With age—and after pregnancy and vaginal childbirths in particular—the vaginal tissues stretch and become more loose/lax. This may lead to women having trouble feeling their partner during intercourse and also decreases their ability to attain vaginal stimulation. Additionally, the lack of tone of the vaginal “sphincter” can lead to trouble with women’s health in the form of urinary incontinence and occasional constipation. Women who seek vaginal rejuvenation via vaginoplasty generally want to restore their pre-childbirth vaginal form and function. Complaints of women who are candidates for vaginoplasty include vaginal looseness, sagging of the vulva, urine leakage, decreased sexual satisfaction, and an unappealing appearance. Some women also complain of the “splayed open” look that the vaginal region can take. For this reason, our surgeons may also perform a perineoplasty in conjunction with a vaginoplasty. A perineoplasty is the repair of the muscles along the entry to the vagina.
A vaginoplasty is a surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure that involves surgically tightening the vaginal tissues—both the mucosa and the separated muscles—in order to restore the natural youthful anatomy and improve sexual satisfaction. This women’s health procedure can be done in the office or with the patient under general anesthesia in the operating room, depending on preference. The vaginal rejuvenation procedure generally takes two to three hours depending on complexity. Patients go home the same day.

You are able to return to work one to two weeks after this vaginal rejuvenation procedure, depending on the nature of your work. You will be advised to limit your activity and remain on modified bed rest for three to five days. You will be restricted from heavy lifting and intercourse for six weeks after this vaginal rejuvenation surgery. Discomfort is generally relieved by pain medication and pelvic rest. The vaginal region heals extremely well, and thus the resultant scar is imperceptible.
Generally, women seek vaginal rejuvenation via labiaplasty for one or more of these women’s health reasons:
- Dislike of the appearance of the inner lips (labia minora) extending beyond the outer lips (labia majora)
- Labia feel too bulky, leading to a limit in the wear of form-fitting or revealing clothing
- Active women and athletes whose labia rub with biking and/or running

- A lack of sexual confidence due to the appearance of the labia
- The bulkiness of labia interferes with sexual activity
Labiaplasty is a surgical vaginal rejuvenation procedure to remove redundant tissue of the labia minora, labia majora, or around the clitoris. This is often done with a clitoral hood reduction to address redundant tissue around the clitoral region.
Labiaplasty takes about one to two hours to complete and can be done in the clinic with the patient awake under local anesthesia or in a fully accredited operating room with the patient under general anesthesia. These vaginal rejuvenation patients go home the same day. You are able to return to work in one week, depending on the nature of your job. You will be advised to limit your activity and remain on modified bed rest for three to five days. You will have to avoid heavy lifting and intercourse for four to six weeks. Medication and pelvic rest can help to manage discomfort. The labia region heals extremely well, so scars from the vaginal rejuvenation surgery are very difficult to see.
Labiaplasty of the labia majora will sometimes include liposuction as well, depending on your individual anatomy. This women’s health procedure involves a combination of liposuction and surgical excision of tissue used in concert to attain balance.
What Are the Different Types of Labiaplasty for Vaginal Rejuvenation?
The two major types of labiaplasty are wedge labiaplasty and trim (also known as an edge) labiaplasty. We most commonly perform trim labiaplasty in most vaginal rejuvenation patients. With the trim labiaplasty, the procedure is able to remove more of the excess labia minora (inner lips) with a reduced incidence of complications.
The trim technique also heals exceptionally well—important for women’s health procedures. With this vaginal rejuvenation technique, we are also is able to remove the pigmented (dark colored) aspect of the labia minora (inner lips) present in some women.
What is Labial Volume Enhancement for Vaginal Rejuvenation?
Age and genetics can both contribute to a flattened, thin appearance of the labia majora. We offer two types of labial volume enhancement for vaginal rejuvenation: fat obtained through liposuction, and also with filler. Both of these forms of women’s health can be done in the office with the patient under local anesthesia.
Labial Filler Placement
Placement of dermal fillers into the labia for volume enhancement takes 30 to 60 minutes. The effect with fillers is temporary and lasts six months to one year. You are able to go to work the next day following vaginal rejuvenation with filler. You are kept on pelvic rest for two weeks and are restricted from heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for one week.
Volume enhancement with filler is a temporary vaginal rejuvenation solution and will need to be repeated for desired effect every nine months to one year.
Labial Fat Grafting
Labial fat grafting involves the transfer of fat from undesired areas into the labia. Liposuction is used to obtain fat for grafting, so this vaginal rejuvenation procedure can be done in a fully accredited operating room under general anesthesia for women’s health patients who prefer that option.

If you choose labial fat grafting for vaginal rejuvenation, you will be able to go to work after three to five days—or sooner, if you are no longer taking oral pain medicine. Swelling is common after this vaginal rejuvenation procedure, but that typically resolves with time.
Volume enhancing vaginal rejuvenation with fat is typically long-lasting, although it may occasionally need to be repeated depending on the body‘s resorption rate of the transferred fat. After labial volume enhancement, you are recommended to rest your pelvis (including intercourse) for two weeks.

What is G-Spot Enhancement?
In the field of women’s health, the G-Spot refers to an area in the anterior vagina that can be stimulated for vaginal arousal in some women. It is usually one to three inches in the vagina past the vaginal opening. Not all women have a “G-Spot,” and not all women experience arousal vaginally.
For G-Spot enhancement, our experienced doctors will examine you and determine with you the location in your vagina of maximal sensitivity. She will then introduce filler into this area. What is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot for women’s health is a form of vaginal rejuvenation that increases stimulation over the external clitoral region. It is done by a simple blood draw to derive products that are very rich in nutrients, collagen, and platelets. This is injected into the external and internal regions of the vaginal area to increase blood flow and stimulation. A topical anesthetic is used to limit discomfort.
