Thousand of women every year in the U.S. alone opt to go bigger by enhancing their breasts through Breast Augmentation. For women who are born with heavy, large, overdeveloped breasts the concept of going smaller may seem to outsiders a strange choice considering the amount of women opting to go bigger these days. What many people who do not deal with over-sized breasts on a daily basis do not realize is that there are a number of physical and emotional strains associated with having large breasts. Often these women deal with chronic neck, shoulder and back pain. Large breasts can make social situation uncomfortable, fashion choices limited and physical activities very painful. Dr. Unger have helped a number of women lead more comfortable and pain-free lives through Breast Reduction surgery.
During a Breast Reduction surgery, Dr. Unger will make an incision around the areola (there are a few different incision options, depending on the amount that is being altered) and generally the areola will stay in tact to it’s original blood source and nerves. The excess fatty and glandular tissue and skin is removed. The areola may be repositioned, reshaped or re-sized to better match the new breasts shape. The remaining skin is then closed around the areola to create smaller, lighter, and firmer breasts.
